The Steelers picked up their fourth win of the season on Sunday, as Pittsburgh took down the Bucs 26-19. Here's who overperformed and underperformed in the victory.
Overperformer: WR Germie Bernard
His fourth-down blunder when he ran behind the sticks was inexcusable, but throw out one bad play, and Germie Bernard had a quality outing against the Bucs. It couldn’t be clearer that Aaron Rodgers trusts him as a pass catcher. With injuries impacting the wide receiver room, Bernard continues to prove himself as a WR2.
Overperformer: DB Jalen Ramsey
Jalen Ramsey was all over the place on Sunday. Most importantly, though, he slammed the door shut on QB Jalon Daniels with a fourth-down sack to end the game — his second of the afternoon. Ramsey also tallied up four TFLs in Tampa.
Overperformer: EDGE Nick Herbig
Another player who came up with two sacks was Nick Herbig. It took him until mid-October to finally bring a quarterback down, but Herbig showed off his upside in the road victory.
Overperformer: CB Jamel Dean
Pittsburgh had all the momentum late in the fourth quarter, and Jamel Dean kept the pendulum swinging in favor of the away team with a key interception that set up the Steelers near the goal line. Sure, it would have been nice to see a pick six here, but this interception was big time as he made Daniels pay for his mistake.
Overperformer: CB Daylen Everette
With Terrible Towels twirling throughout Raymond James Stadium, Daylen Everette matched the crowd’s energy to really get the momentum going in favor of the Steelers following the offense’s first touchdown of the game. As mentioned with Dean, the second half was all about momentum — Everette’s interception was a key catalyst in that being the case.
Overperformer: WR DK Metcalf
Was DK Metcalf a superstar on Sunday? No, but if you catch 11 passes, you’re doing something right. Bernard and Metcalf both were solid once the passing game got going.
Underperformer: OL Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor’s rookie season continues to be a bit of a roller coaster. While there definitely have been some quality reps, a complete whiff against the Bucs late in the third quarter was a reminder that there will be growing pains.
Underperformer: QB Aaron Rodgers
As the offense came to life, Aaron Rodgers did a tremendous job facilitating the comeback in Tampa. But looking at his entire game in totality, it wasn’t QB1’s best day. No, the interception wasn’t his fault, but early on, Rodgers and the offense never had a groove. Give credit for the late-game heroics, but the full outing could have been a lot better.
